Going Green at Estancia Mall: 4 Eco-Friendly Stores to Check Out

Committing to the sustainability movement doesn’t happen overnight. Looking to start somewhere? Small changes like refusing plastic utensils and using a bidet instead of toilet paper all add up to the greater picture. You can also support eco-friendly brands, some of them you can find at Estancia Mall.

Here are 4 of the most eco-friendly stores in Estancia Mall that you need to check out!

Burt’s Bees
Second Floor, North Wing
At Burt’s Bees, you can always expect the best nature has to offer. The brand prides itself for being simple, natural, and responsible. They create their products with responsibly-sourced natural ingredients and keep the processing of the raw materials to a minimum to preserve its level of purity. In fact, every product is labelled with a “natural bar” which reveals a more detailed list of ingredients, complete with descriptions.

Burt’s Bees is also a member of the Sustainable Packaging Coalition. They conscientiously designed all their product packaging, including their focus on using post-consumer recycled content. They make their packaging as recyclable as possible as 89% of their primary packaging is made with recyclable materials.

What to get: Stick to the basics — get their iconic, best-selling, yellow-capped lip balms. It’s the brand’s claim to fame, after all.

Messy Bessy
Lower Ground Floor, South Wing
Clean freaks, unite! Messy Bessy is a local brand that makes natural, biodegradable, non-toxic home and personal care products. They were established in 2007 for the main purpose of providing education, employment, and rehabilitation for at-risk young adults.

Unlike mainstream commercial products that add a bunch of fillers, bubble-makers, colors, and artificial scents, Messy Bessy sticks to earth-friendly ingredients that do the job. Plus, this eliminates the toxic waste that goes into our streams. Admittedly, their plastic packaging is not the most sustainable material, however they offer product refills and a return bottle policy that gives customers P10 off their purchase.

What to get: Grab both scents of their Room & Linen Spray! Grapefruit to invigorate and perk up the senses in the morning and Lavender to relax and give you a good night’s rest at night.

Lush
Second Floor, North Wing
If you are a citizen of the Internet, chances are you’ve already heard of Lush. Their fragrant, colorful bath bombs have essentially taken over beauty and lifestyle blogs in the early 2010s.

It’s obvious that when you step into a physical Lush store, everything is made with sustainability in mind. They have pioneered the sustainability movement that brought forth innovative eco-friendly products and practices to the mainstream. For example, they created the first (the now famous and often replicated) shampoo bars in an effort to reduce packaging waste. Customers are also encouraged to bring in empty product packaging for recycling.

What to get: Try the Silky Underwear powder and sprinkle it all over your skin and hair for a velvety soft feel.

L’occitane
Ground Floor, South Wing
L’occitane is a brand deeply rooted with nature. They boast long-term partnerships with the farmers and pickers of Corsica and Provence to assure that the ingredients their products are made of are of the highest quality and sourced as sustainably as possible.

They follow strict renewable and recyclable guidelines for their packaging without compromising on the luxurious experience. Loyal L’occitane fans would also know that in an attempt to cut down plastic waste, they offer eco-refills for most of their best-selling formulas — including soaps, face wash, and shampoo.

What to get: Delight in gentle lather and mouth-watering scent of their Almond Shower Oil.
