Manila’s first independent, quality-focused coffee shop started with a vision: a place that would educate the local community and help them appreciate the versatility of quality coffee. Craft Coffee’s pride is in their baristas’ abilities, many of whom have won awards and recognition for brewing the finest cups of coffee. You can order your coffee to be brewed on a variety of pour-over methods, which is what the brand is known for.
The Flat Whites and the Mochas are crowd favorites so be sure to give them a try. Better yet, ask the barista for a recommendation. Who knows? You just might discover your next favorite brew.
UCC Clockwork
UCC Clockwork is UCC family’s venture into the third-wave coffee trend and since they opened their first local store in 2014, they’ve proven that artisanal coffee is here to stay. Great coffee starts with the beans; theirs are sourced from farms instead of countries, and their roasting methods focus on bringing out the purest flavors from the beans. UCC Clockwork also uses various brewing methods: cold drip, pour over, La Marzocco for espressos, and even an Aeropress. Their famous Sumiyaki beans are roasted in charcoal– the only one of its kind in the country– before being served syphon-style.
Aside from their Sumiyaki Syphon, try their single origin beans brewed with the pour-over method. They carry local beans from Benguet, Kapatagan, Mt. Matutum, and more. Feel like splurging? Try their limited Panama Santa Teresa Geisha, a light, fruity blend that could be mistaken for tea.
Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf
CBTL has been around for a long time (since 1963, can you believe that?) and for a good reason. This group has a passion for being Simply The Best and it’s evident in every cup of coffee they serve. To make the brew, their coffee master selects only the top 1% Arabica beans that the world has to offer from Latin America, East Africa, and the Pacific. So from Light and Subtle to Dark and Distinctive, these beans are roasted perfectly from seed to cup so you get real goodness in every cup you purchase.
